Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke continue to follow Idate while fending off attacks by three shinobi sent by Wagarasi. They find out that if Idate does not win the race, the Feudal Lord Gokaro will make sure the Wasabi clan is disbanded. After fighting their way out of some tough spots, the four finally reach the sea where Idate tells the three why he did not get in the boat before. They borrow an old man's boat but are attacked by the same shinobi while out at sea. Can Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke protect Idate in such a confined area?

After Marie has Frank return an anniversary gift Ray and Debra gave them Ray and Debra reminisce about the first time they slept together. Debra then decides to go apologize to Marie but Marie refuses to accept her apology when she learns that Debra lied to her in front of a priest.

While Jack and Lynn's relationship gets more complicated, Patrick decides that he wants Annie's father to agree to their marriage. Meanwhile, a new visitor, Cash, moves into Marin's cabin temporarily in exchange for repairing it.

Giles discovers an ancient prophecy which states that Buffy will face The Master and she will die. Upon hearing this, Buffy breaks down and tries to quit her Slayer duties. But when vampires massacre a group of students on campus, she realizes that she must face her destiny in order to save her friends... and the world.
